Hi Unsvelte

(By the way your forum name is very distinctive - but it is not a good label to have if you want to lose weight - how about Getting Svelte? )

How fantastic to have a cook. Not sure how much you can tell him or her what to cook but if you can ask your cook to prepare whatever recipe you want you have got it made!

I have tried Pilates - it's good exercise for toning up but it's hard to get the form right without a class so I'd only do it if I was getting taught the movements professionally. Not sure there's enough movement in it for weight-loss but it's important to build up the strength in your muscles anyway.

The exercises which are good at any size are walking and swimming. Swimming is great because it does not stress your joints - but it's not great if you don't like it or there's not a pool nearby or you hate to go out in public in your bathing costume.

So I swear by walking - you can start with as little as you like and build up. Even better get a pedometer and do as many steps as you can each day working up little by little to 10,000 (which doesn't take as long as you think)! You will never look back.

Remember and check with your doctor if there's any doubt about your health before you begin a new exercise programme.
