Look, Sandy, I know where you're coming from. You're frustrated and want immediate answers. Are diet pills the answer? You need only look at the site you refered us to. Take Phentermine for example. The manufacturer says that the drug "works best when it is taken in conjunction with diet, exercise and behavior therapy". That's the answer - diet, exercise, and behavior modification. NOT the diet pills part.

Weight loss is supposed to improve your health, not risk it. Diet pills not only mess up your metabolism, but depending on the pills you're taking, they can also raise your blood pressure and heart rate. This in turn increases the risk of heart attack and cardiac arrest. One only needs look at ephedra where at least 155 people are known to have died from taking the stuff. In another case, the FDA received reports of 49 deaths related to sibutramine (Meridia) - an appetite suppressant - between February 1998 and March 2003.

Diet pills just set you up for bigger problems once you stop taking them. Sorry, but if you want permanent, safe weight loss that won't damage your health, forget the diet pills and go with the tried and true method - diet, exercise, and behavior modification. That's the only thing that works. Period.
