well, guess i will start my online journal
I am new to this group, but am definitely not new to dieting. In high school I was never fat or skinny, just one of those average kids. Then, I went into the Marine Corps, and they put me on weight control for being 2 pounds over the weight max ( I weighed 149lbs, and my body fat % was 27). In weight control, they weigh you weekly and take you body fat % weekly. Every Friday we took a PFT (physical fitness test), where we ran 3 miles, did the flexed arm hang (females) and did situps. When I first started I was running 3 miles in around 40 minutes, did 70 seconds on the flexed arm hang, and did around 50 situps in 2 minutes. After 6 months on weight control my weight was still around the same, but I was down to 18% bf. I was running 3 miles in 25 minutes, doing the flexed arm hang for around 2 minutes 30 seconds, and doing 100 situps in 2 minutes. I was in awesome shape, was wearing a size 5 jeans, and just was spectacularly happy with the way I looked and felt. Well, they took me off weight control, and I ended up getting pregnant. With my first pregnancy, I gained an aweful 70 lbs. I was mortified when I weighed in at 220 lbs. I couldn't believe it. I did lose alot shortly after, I seemed stuck at 180 lbs for ever it seemed. That's when I began basically starving myself. I would eat 1 meal a day, and other than that the only thing i consumed was alcohol (living up to true Marine style....lol). I was more interested in partying than eating, and I wanted so bad to become thin again. It took 6 months of eating unhealthy, drinking too much, and my self esteem lowering to next to nothing before I was able to get back on track. I still went out and partied, but, alot less, and did more dancing than drinking. I would eat 2 meals a day instead of 1 (which now with age I still know is not good, but was better than 1) and I had more energy. I started losing weight. I actually got down to 155 lbs. Which was a drastic improvement. Well, I learned my lesson with the first pregnancy, and I gained less weight with my following 3 prenancies, but even still, I can't seem to lose weight. I have spent the last 3 years going up and downhill so often it makes my head spin. I go from diet pill to diet pill trying to find that "miracle pill" that will get the weight off. Guess what.......it isn't out there, because if it was I would have found it. All the claims they make are a load of dog doody. So, back to square one. Looking at myself in the mirror and going gawd, what has my body become? I am now 160 lbs. I lost 5 lbs over the last month, by just becoming a little more active and snacking a little less. I took my measurements today and calculated my body fat %, and am at 32%. (It mortified me to look at that number). I also started a new program today called slimquick. I did research on it, and have read good reviews, and yes, i know its not a miracle pill, but it is a fat burner. They put a sample diet in the pamphlet that comes with it, which specifies basically 5 small meals per day, and 2 doses of the f.b. It also tells you to exercise 4 times a week, with 3 rest days. I will post a pic of myself after i have hubby take one for me. I am dead set on getting my body back into shape. (preferably not the shape it is right now.....i don't like round). I am also going to be weighing myself every friday (just like when I was on weight control) and doing my body fat. I will also post my waist, thigh, and hips measurements on here so everyone can know what my progress is like. (Oh, and even though I despise drinking water, I am drinking the nasty stuff......lol) I already cut out soda except on rare occasions, but I guess the juices have to go also.
