Hi! My name is Adrienne. I'm 21 years old, living at home with my family. I'm a full time college student (History) and I work part time in a local coffeeshop. I'm engaged! Getting married to a wonderful guy in May, which means I have a little over 7 months to lose at least 30 pounds. My fiancee' is active duty in the Army (currently deployed "over there") and will be coming home from his year long deployment in just over 3 months! So I've decided today that I might as well get my butt in gear and see if I can give him a little surprise for his Homecoming! Anyway, that's me and I look forward to meeting y'all!

You've lost lost 20lbs of what, Stella? The scale may say you're 20 lbs lighter, but with a scale you don't know what those 20 lbs are made up of. Is it fat (unlikely), muscle (quite likely) or water (even more likely). You see, unless you do some serious cardio and resistance along with restricting calories, a lot of the weight loss is muscle. The body hangs onto it's fat reserves for fuel because it senses an impending famine. Now you can't afford to lose a single ounce of muscle. Muscle is what drives your metabolism, that in turn burns fat. If you lose muscle, your metabolism slows. That means if you're not careful and put weight back on, the weight will be fat because you have less muscle to burn the excess calories. That makes it even more difficult the next time you try to lose weight. It's sort of a Catch-22 situation if a person doesn't go about losing weight the proper way - and simply cutting calories is not the best way to lose weight.
