Red face My appetite has gone through the roof....

Hello,

This is my 1st post on such a forum, so hello and please be kind!?

I'm 34, in good shape really. I'm 6 foot and currently weight 13 stone 10 lbs.

I've weighed a maximum of 15 stone a few years ago (when I was doing a lot of weight training and eating protein in excess to build bulk).

So, I'm happy with my weight, although I always strive to get my stomach flat, its flat if I breath in unlike most blokes of my age that I see walking about!

The thing is, I've noticed over the last couple of weeks, that I am eating a lot more than I normally do. I seem to have turned into a bit of a glutton. Today for instance:

banana, 2 slices of fruit toast and pint of water for breakfast.

little maple pancake and apple at 11

bowl of tuna and beans with 2 slices of bread at 12.30, followed by a cereal bar

2 more slices of fruit toast at 3
packet of crisps

burgers, sausages and chips for tea
cereal bar

hour later a bowl of custard and a slice of cake.

then half hour later a lolly (ice cream in the middle!)

then half an hour later a bowl of cereal.

To me, this sounds like a food frenzy.

It just makes me feel so bad about myself, to lose control of my eating like this, as I've always been very good in that way.

Anyway, don't know what I'm asking for here, other than some advice I suppose. Is this normal? Do you think I may have an illness? Mid-life crisis!?

Oh another thing, I think I am lactose intolerant (yeh, custard, I know, it doesn't kill me, just makes me feel like I have a cold) - something I sort of worked out about a month ago. So, could it be that? I used to drink a pint of milk EVERY DAY, as well as a yoghurt or two most days. Now that they are out of the diet equation, perhaps I'm replacing the lost energy / calories with this other shi*?

Right, enough babbling.

Hi Dunc,
I am far from a nutritionist or dietician but here are my thoughts.
I don't think you are going through a mid-life crisis. It sounds like you really liked your milk. If you do really miss that maybe you are replacing it with the other sh!t. Have you tried any of the products that are lactose free. I personally don't have that problem but it's worth a try. Maybe you are eating so much for another reason, out of boredom, stress..the list is endless. Sounds like you are eating without thinking about it.
We all have areas that we aren't happy with about our bodies. If the only thing that you are not happy with is your belly that is a bonus. We are all unique and all have those trouble areas. I just haven't found mine yet as I have too many Have you ever spoken to a nutritionist before, maybe they can give you that extra kick to get the extra weight off around your mid section. Get burning those calories with lots of cardio. Try cleaning out your environment...it's not available to you, you can't eat it as easy.
