Talking Anyone up for "sensible"

New to this group - have a few pounds to shed (ok, a sliver more than a few). I was once a svelte 3 sizes less. Funny, I never thought of myself as svelte then. Truth, 2 sizes less is my goal.

Here is my thinking - it took me years to put on this weight. When I lose it, I want to make sure that it never finds me again! Franky I don't think that any "diet" is going to do that for me. I have seen friends who have lost and gained, lost and gained. Spending lots of dollars on the flavour of the month diet with some success and then voila! the lbs have attached themselves to them again and with interest I, on the other hand never had the discipline to rigidly stick to a diet that was counterintuitive to my lifelong eating habits.

When I examine the foods I eat, they tend to be on the healthy side - the problem? It does not matter how healthy the food is if you eat too much of it and/or do not burn off
the calories. My challenge is to eat less and excercise more! But how does one keep track of this?

OH JOY! I was just introduced to a program that allows me to keep daily track of exactly that - I just input the foods I eat for the day (up come the calories, the fats, the cholesterol, etc.) and whatever I managed to do as excercise for the day. The system tells me that I am either on my way to or away from my goal weight. I've just been on this system for less then a week and I am learning so much - the daily check in keeps me motivated and more conscious of how much I eat What I really like about this is that it is going to slowly changing my habits to healthy ones! Change comes with a spoonful and a step at a time.

I've got the program you are looking for.

This was the first program I was on when I first started to lose the 60lbs I aimed for (and kept off). Go to www.healthatoz.com. Looking for Manager - Fitness or Diet. I forget which one. It is a free service.

It is such a great tool.

You put in your daily food intake. It measures everything from calorie intake, to carb intake, to protein intake, etc. In fact, this is perfect for everyone who thinks they have to lose weight by cutting out certain foods. Because it summarizes everything. From what daily supplements you are missing. How long it will take you to lose the desired weight if you keep this pattern up. It made me realize that all the diets I've ever done in the past was all so wrong for me.

Anyway,

You then put in your daily activity and your fitness regimen. And it tells you how many calories you have shed.

Then, it projects that if you keep the diet and the fitness up, that it will take you this certain amount of time to lose weight. Or not. And if you put in your desired weight, it will calculate exactly how long it will take you to do it. Or if it is just not a realistic weight loss goal.

Good luck! Please come and visit my blog sometime and drop me a note on how you find this program. I really would appreciate it.
