Red face I am a Newbie

I am new to this and am not sure how to go about opening myself up to people i dont know yet, i think it is easier to talk to people I dont know so that they do not judge. I am 36 year old mother of 4 beautiful daughters. Last week at work myself and 3 others decided to do a 'biggest loser' and we all weighed in. For this you must give a dollar at each weigh and at the end of the month whoever has lost the most gets the 'pot'. Well me hating scales was horrified to get on itand decided if I dont change the way I am I am going to die and not be here for my four daughters. I weighed in at 382.5 lbs. I do not know where it came from other than me being a emotional eater. Since last Wed. I am at 379.5 and doing a low calorie diet. I have yet to begin exercise except what I get at work and believe me my job makes me walk atleast 2-3 miles a day. I do believe that if i didnt have my job I would be nothing but a big blob on my couch. I would love to have a buddy on here to root me on or any encouraging words would be most appriciated. I do have a goal. My little brother is getting married June 10th and I hope to be down atleast 65 lbs. please wish me luck. My ultimate goal is going to be 180. This is me. Good luck to me....
Thanks Trish

I am new to this myself. I have finally decided that i NEED to seriously get a grip on myself and lose the extra pounds. I've said it time and time again that I need to do this but never really took it serious until last year, . . . for a while. I went on a diet and lost about 10 pounds. I made smaller portions, followed the point system and walked a mile a day and did some other exercises at my home and it paid off. I didn't do much exercise though because i was busy with school and never ate lunch so when i got home i was REALLY hungry. Then I guess I kind of gave up on it because at the time my mom and brother were also on the "weight watchers" program and my brother made his goal. . so he quit...worst decision made though since he gained 27 lbs. after (on top of what he lost so in a sense he gained about 42 lbs. WOW). . . anyway I have decided that I'm going to sign myself up for weight watchers this time and FOLLOW through with it even if it kills me!

Right now I weigh 163.3 and I'm 18 and about 5'6" . . I want to weigh 130lbs. and I know I can do this. . hence my name =)

Anyway i would like to give you a congrats on making a decision to lose weight. . it will be extremely challenging at times but you need to make sure that your family is there for support because if they're not then it may not work out. I found this out for myself, it's tough if they are constantly teasing you about them being able to eat the junk food and you can't . . but you know what, YOU (and your daughters) will be the winner(s) in the end since you will be losing the weight you don't think you need and it can also help avoid health problems. I don't know what else to say but I can be here if you need support or a diet buddy. . I will try my hardest to encourage you and hope that it helps!! And I hope I can actually stick to my plan this time. I'm planning a vacation to Jamaica this coming April and i REALLY want to look nice so I can feel good while tanning on the beach. MY best wishes to you!!

Trish:

That's quite a story. I feel for you. I was in a similar situation at 260 pounds and I have lost 135 so far. It wasn't until I started working with a doctor that did 'lifestlye management therapy' before the weight came off and has been off for over a year.

Good Luck

I will try to support you along the way

I guess we all have storries similar to yours. When I got married 5 1/2 years ago I was very fit. But you know how it is once you are settle in and all. Well, I ended up gaining 40lbs in 1.5 years. I hated it. I always worked out, but once married stopped. Well, after the weight gain, I started excercising again, but weight was not really comming off until I added suppliments to my program and reduced my calorie intake. The suppliments gave me all the vitamins I need for the day, energy and also my appitate was reduced, so I did not want to eat as much. To make the long story short, I lost 25lbs in 2 months, only to find out I was pregnant. I was able to keep my pregnancy weight down with excercise and nutritional shake that was approved by my doctor. Now I am working on trimming down to my pre-wedding weight. If you want to PM me, I will share more about what I did.

Well, weighed in at 280 I have lost 2.5 lbs. a bit discouraging but I will continue the low calorie diet. Today I started on the tredmill. 15 minutes I know its not much but on me it felt like a lifetime. Tomorrow, I will be doing another 15 minutes and soon to 30. Thanks for your wishes, and encouragement.
