Hi Kay, usually people find help in doing new things, new activities, or just being away from the food. One of the things you can do is not be around these "crisps". Avoid making or buying them and if possible, substitute something more healthy. How is your water intake? Are you drinking enough water?

Hi Kay,

Congratulations on losing four WHOLE pounds!!

As far as tempting foods, I have the same problem. My solution is not to tickle the dragon, meaning do not have the difficult-to-resist food around you, and the first bite is easier to resist than the tenth bite.

It's similar to stopping smoking--you can't have one cigarette--ever or else you start up again. I do not have one single taste of anything with sugar because then my blood sugar goes on a roller coaster. It's torture to have one bite of a food that does that because then you have severe cravings for quite a long time due to the blood sugar swings.

Keep up the good work!

Pat

I found an article on about.com a month ago saying that peanut butter was a good appetite supressor. I now have 1 tbls a day between lunch and dinner and it really helps curve my hunger and keep me from snacking.

Kay - keep it up. It's hard - Lord knows I know. I won't buy junk food, but I work second shift about three days a week. It never fails that I come home and my husband (a wonderful, supportive guy) has done the shopping - and he buys the worst snacks. He thinks he's being nice to me by getting ice cream, cookies, and fast-oven pizza, but you and I both know how hard this makes things for me.

Look at it this way: Try to quit buying the crisps. The best ever replacement snack I ever discovered is Jiffy Healthy Pop 94% Fat Free popcorn. It's lo-cal, lo-fat, and very high in fiber to make you feel full. You can guiltlessly enjoy the entire bag all by yourself! As for your slow results, I'm sure Jeeplaw will back me up and agree that slower is, in the long run, better. You're less likely to rebound. And - if ever in doubt about how successful you've been thus far - do this: Go to the store and weigh 4 lbs of apples, 4lbs of chicken, or 4lbs of anything. 4lbs is a LOT!!!

Keep it up, girl!

Sarah
