Hi,
I need some advice. I am 21 years old, 5'6", 160 lbs. I am not fat, but I am a little thick. I am trying desperately to lose this weight, but I just can not seem to get the job done. Is there anyone out there who is willing to offer a few helpful words of advice? Maybe a diet plan designed not for extremely overweight people, just those who need to drop 15-20 lbs. I try to work out, and manage to get to the gym at least a couple times a week. What should I do? It is really affecting my relationship with my boyfriend, and my self esteem.

Hey Pat, that's really not true. Most Dr. may recommend that, because most, if not all, diets are not good. They are all HIGH in
Sugar
Fat
Salt
Calories
and LOW in
Protein
Fiber
The problem with Doctors, is they don't have the time to talk good sound basic Nutrition with you. At least that is what my Dr. told me!!
What your Body Needs on a daily basis is
Protein
Carbohydrates
Vitamins
Minerals
Fats and Oils
Herbs
Antioxidants
If you're giving your body all that, you can lose as much weight as possible without any harm to your body. The most important part of that list is Protein. Protein builds muscle mass. The more muscle mass you have, the faster you burn fat. And that is VERY natural. Nothing unhealthy about it. Another natural thing is if you are not giving your body enough protein, it takes it from somewhere else. NOT GOOD. Females on avg. needs 100 grams of protein, where males needs 150 grams.
I lost 20lbs in 30 days and feel better today than I have ever felt. I look better and healthier, and my energy is through the roof. I lost 6lbs in my first week and 11 lbs in 2 weeks. Lost 3 inches in my waist. I fit my JEANS again!!
If you asked your doctor if you could go on a low sugar, low fat, low salt, low calorie diet, that is high in protein and fiber what do you think they would say?
They would probably say, “Sure, if you can find something like that!”
I have, and I love it. Look in to it.
Thanks for listening

Joe, your argument sounds really good on the surface, but you've got to admit the logic could be a little contradictory. Let's take a close look at the two lists. Sugar (from the bad list) is a type of carbohydrate (good list). Fats are bad, but fats and oils are good. Calories are bad, but the three sources of dietary calories (fats, carbohydrates, and protein) are good.
I think any nutritionist/health professional would agree that a diet high in protein and dietary fiber is healthy. What I take issue with is the "bad" list.

Pat,
The doctors can say whatever they want. All I know is that I lost 20 pounds in my first month and I have kept it off for 6 months now and No side effects.
