New here - New to Dieting

Hello - I've never dieted before in my life....and now I'm actually on a 1500 daily caloric intake diet - plus taking prescribed diet pills to help with my weight loss.

I'm 5' 6" and 165 pounds. This is the heaviest I've ever been. I look at my body and wonder "What happened?"

I have cellulite on my butt and thighs, I have back-fat, my hips and butt have gotten so big.

Plus, I'll be 30 very soon.

I know what my probems are:
1) I'm recently married (2004) a wonderful man - who likes to eat just like me.
2) I love to drink beer - cook dinner - eat - then go directly to sleep. This is how sumo wrestlers gain weight!
3) I work a desk job with minimal activity
4) I don't exercise regularly
5) I'm a generally lazy person

My question to anyone who wants to chat is:

Why is it so freakin' hard to get motivated into losing weight? Toning up? Getting active? Eating right? etc etc!!!

I DREAD being on this diet!!!

Any help/support is appreciated -
MiyaBee

Smile Changing your lifestyle!!

You have to approach your changes as changing your lifestyle and getting healthy. It's not only about how you look. You are young now so it's hard to picture yourself down the road being overweight plus maybe having high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or diabetes or all them. But this is what might happen. Then you are dealing with a lot more than just pounds!!

Try not to do too much at once. This should be a long term process that takes time and effort. Reward yourself when you get and stay on track. Don't just think about how much better you will look but how much better you will feel.

I am a registered dietitian who counsels people like you everyday. There are lots of things you can do to get and stay motivated. Let me know if I can give you any more direction.

GOOD LUCK, Angela

Thumbs up motivation

Dear Miyabee...i am five ft. 4in. and i weighed 245. i was off the drs chart in weight.she gave me an extra half and inch to try to put me on the weight chart. i was so heavy i was off.so she told me no salt and no sugar and low fat. and to walk 7 days a week-just 30 minutes. the weight has dropped off doing the low fat thing and cutting out sugar.i have lost 80 pounds now since oct.18th-06.so u can do it.baby steps...low fat and walking will get u going.30 miutes a day is a lovely walk outside to see the spring blossoms and the beauty of nature and i found out it is a time to mull over problems and i end up being stress free after a bit of a walk.i do some richard simmons on some days. i have a walking dvd for rainy days.it is easy and fun.good luck...u can do it.take care.rae-dean
