Yes, you're right, niggles, we are all entitled to our own opinions. That's what's nice about forums. Everyone is entitled to their own view. As long as they are courteous and polite and don't trash anyone, then hey! express away.
My whole point is I have a problem with the word "diet" from the get go. To me, that word is an acronym for "Dangerous Inadvisable Eating Tactic". When a "diet" promises a person can lose 9 lbs every 11 days, the red warning flags go up. As I said previously, 9 lbs of what? You have to preserve at all costs the lean body mass you have. You can't afford to lose muscle tissue. That is where fat is burned and that is what you want to lose - fat - not pounds.
There's lots I take issue with in their ad. I gave one example previously. Another is the statement: "You get fat because you don't eat the right foods at the right intervals each day." Rubbish! You get fat because you take in excess calories of that which you expend. Anything above your immediate needs is stored as excess fuel - fat. What they say makes as much sense as saying there are different types of calories.
Hey! If people are happy on this "diet" and are happy losing weight with no regard to where that weight is coming from, so be it. I maintain there will come a time when the novelty of this "diet" wears off and they go back to their previous eating habits. This type of eating is not sustainable. It is not a lifestyle change one can live with. Atkins was all the rage for awhile, and finally is dying down. People lost tons of weight, and we know what the statistics bear out. They're back to square one, only fatter than when they started, which is the outcome of all fad "diets".

Hi everyone,
I am new to this as well. From what I have read on all the postings is that ChefBrian seems to be the only person putting down the Weightloss For Idiots program. I have been actively going to the gym since the beginning of January and I just seem to be gaining weight. I know I am toning muscle which is heavier than fat. I understand that, but it is so frustrating when you think you are eating healthier and excersie reguarly and NO weight seams to be coming off. Everyone tells me to just be patient, but I am NOT a patient person....
So I looked into the WL4I program and I figured what the hell, let's try it... I know it is not long term because loosing 9lbs every 11 days doesn't seem to be too healthy. BUT... I thought it would educate me on what to eat and putting me on a schedule. I didn't think that sounded to bad.

I started on the diet but after 3 days got stuck and figured that if i wasn't going to lose weight it said i was going to go but to dieting the way i had! i lost 20 lbs, excerising and watching what I am eating! I don't think the price was worth it, it didn't have enough info in the book itself.! i wasn't really satifised for the price! I did learn something good things from it, but... if i know what the book said before i probably would not have brought it!

Hi, I am new here too. I started the diet on Monday, weighing 155lbs and this morning I was at 149lbs. Now, of course I know this rate won't keep up, but look how further ahead I am already!!
After following Weight Watchers religiously for 8 weeks, I only lost 10lbs. I am not putting WW down, but I would like to take another 20lbs off, and with WW it will take me another 4 months!
As I said, I don't expect this weight loss rate to keep up, but if I can get the 20lbs off in 2 months instead of 4, I will be happy.
I plan to follow the WW plan after I reach my goal in order to maintain - since that is essentially what I was doing on it anyway!
I think everyone has to find a diet that works for them... and that may even mean a combination of diets. As long as the weight is coming off, I stay stick with it!

Hi Manon,
I just started the diet today. I'm new to using a message board. Hope I'm doing it right.
I would love to know how you are doing and how everyone else is doing. I have a lot of weight to lose and haven't been very successful in the past. I travel a lot so it's been hard to find something I can stick to.
One thing I find hard to believe is that if you start your meal at 7am, you have dinner at 2pm, because it says to eat every 2 1/2 hours. Have you stuck to that or spread the hours out a little.
Would love to hear back from you and everyone else on the diet.
Thanks,
Phara

Hi, I have just finished my first round, and lost 7 lbs. It was mostly painless, and a learning experience regarding learning a new way to prepare tuna and ground turkey.
The 2 1/2 hours is the minimum, it is a good way to plan ahead so you can decide when you want your last meal to be.
I was amazed that I found I was not hungry on this diet once I started. I could eat a lot less than I expected. Probably due to eating 4 meals a day. I would try to plan the last meal to be something small and sweet if possible.
I am going to try another meal plan for the next round. Switching from Lean Ground Turkey, and tuna to Ham with pineapple and cottage cheese. Oh I did find it was good to plan on at least on portable meal.
Good luck!

[b][i][font=Times][color=green]Alrighty, been awhile since i posted here.
First of all i dont think Brian is putting the wl4i diet down, he is just expressing his concern, and i for one thank him for that, awarness and knowledge are the keys to success.
Alot of what he says if not all is pretty much dead on.
but at the same time lets go alittle further into this, what scares me and i know people like brian too, is that most people are willing to jump onto any "diet" that promises to make you lose <how ever much weight, in what ever time limit> yet they fail to really understand what they are losing, or how and last but not least why.
I have been researching the WL4I diet for a few weeks now, and i bought the plan this week to fully check it out.
Let me explain my decision to try this :lifestyle change" . for me it will not be a diet, the basic rules of eating smaller meals 4 times a day is something i must start doing, for a few years i have been an avid meal skipper and sometimes go days without ever being hungry talk about a way to distroy your system!
so that part of it is needed, as well as the intake of more water and alot less other fluids, so easy it is to fall into the pop, coffee crap cycle. and when you drink a coffee double double, and use it as a crutch to get through the day, then your pretty much running your system off of refined processed sugars and ewww thats just terribly unhealthy.
the food on the wl4i is dead on with what i normaly eat day to day, IF i choose a menu with more veggies/fruit and less meat!
What i have found, is that i can utilize this program to better my lifestyle, loosing weight is going to be a give in, first week or 2 will be water loss, but just simply cutting out the serious sugar/simple carb addiction i have will put me on the road to reversing the weight gain. For thos of us who have alot of extra baggage, dont exersize enough, have bad eating habits, it is a start to a healthier lifestyle.
Now i was and still worry slightly about little things in the diet, but i have taken the time to find what supplements and vitamins my body will need to take in with this life style change, in order to runn smoothly, i worry that others are not doing the same
For me WL4I is a foot in the door, in making these changes i will have started in the right direction.
after i lose some of this weight i will be bringing up my exercize levels and making more better choices and changes.
when i feel that i have this addiction, and health problem under firm control and alot of the extra weight behind me, i do not plan to slip back to where i am now, i am making positive changes to my lifestyle for the remainder of this life. picking up my level of fitness along the way, and being aware of what i am putting into my body and where it can get me will keep me on the straight and narrow!
Phara!!! shit girl you cant eat at 2 pm and go the rest of the day then night with no fuel in your system, that is a recipie for disaster!!!
it states that you should wait "at least 2 1/2 hours in between each meal . not to eat every 2 1/2 hours
little misunderstandings like that scare me!!!
because i am breast feeding i am upping my meals to 5 a day, i will have a fruit smoothy each morning at 7-8 and start my meals 2-3 hours after that.
i have been told not to do this <_< but i know it is needed, and as i always say, if it doesnt sound right or feel right then it aint right.
So i will go ahead and follow my own feelings on this.
i think the problem alot of are having with this wl4i is that they are not really willing to start eating the healthy foods, fruit veggies, unprocessed foods, whole grains etc...
so they pick alot of the same foods over and over in their meal plans
i may be a simple carb/ sugar addict, but i eat food as natural as i can get it. its only when i get down or busy or stressed when i reach for the crap food. so in changing mylifestyle i am also learning how to cope with stress with meditation again, and doing more relaxing thing, making time for ME.
<hard with 6 young kids> lol
for alot of people there are emotional addictions and problems that need to be worked out and solved/healed before they are truly ready for lifestyle change, or they will just slipp right back.
I have made these steps, opened my eyes and healed alot of issues over the last few years, so now i am ready to step forward and deal with changing the pysical problems.
for me i just fear the end results when others jump on a crash diet, or look for ways to fix the apperance by any means without understanding how they got to that place in the first time... then only to return there.
so for me this isnt a diet" its one part of a lifestyle change for the better.
good luck to you all i hope you all find what you search for, just be cautious of what you do, and please listen to your body it will tell you/show you if you are doing damage or running it low.
Love & Light to you all
Autumn
P.S~ sorry to go on for so long. lol got alittle carried away, its late and i cant sleep hope i got my message across, if not just ignore the post

Excellent response, Autumn, and right on. For most people, losing weight is like putting duct tape on a leaky water pipe. They're just treating the symptoms - not the cause. It's a temporary fix at best.
You've "taken the time to find what supplements and vitamins my body will need to take in along with this life style change. for me this isnt a "diet" its one part of a lifestyle change for the better" which is why your chances of losing weight - and most importantly, keeping it off - are exceptionally high. You've done your home work and know what you're doing and how you're going to go about doing it. I may have missed it in a previous post, but I don't see anything in your message above about exercise. I trust that will be a component of your program? As you know, it's vital to preserve as much lean body tissue as possible. If possible, get an inexpensive set of calipers to get a reading of your current body fat percentage before you start and track the changes along with the scale to get a very reliable picture of your progress.
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress! (By the way, did you mention in a previous post that you lived in Northern Ontario? Thunder Bay here).

Hey brian,
yes i do plan to pick up more exercise as i go, presently i have started walking more, and doing 20 min of tai bo 3 times a week, as well as some ab/ glut workouts on off days.
I plan to up my exercise plan as i go, right now im postpartum so im doing more then before but still taking it easy. the last thing i want is to be a flabby mess when i go shed this extra weight, im more into losing body fat and transforming it back int o muscle once again.
Yes i live in Muskoka, was living up on manitoulin island until last year. ive been all over ont, and just can keep away from northern ont. i love it.
god idea about the calipers, i will do that thanks
Love & Light
~Autumn
