I am sooo close to subscribing to WLFI. I know it's been discussed before. But I need to hear more before I try it. Anyone else trying it? Anybody else have more to add?

Hello????? Is anybody out there???? I guess I will reply to my own post. If the WLFI is not a hot topic, what else is anybody else doing that seems to work? I have found in the past that the best thing for me is walking. I have also tried to eliminate as much sugar, caffeine, white flour, and preservatives from my diet. This seems to help. Any thoughts?

There is a rather lengthy discussion about WL4I about 5 or 6 posts down from yours, AliasFan. Also, for what it's worth, I replied to a post someone put up with my name on it, asking what I thought about "dieting" in general. It's just below yours. You might find something useful there. Dunno, though. That's for you to decide!

hi.. i've read most of the discussions on WL4I as well as the info on their website.. i does certainly sound interesting. I am thinking of buying it. $27 for 3 months sounds reasonable to check it out. this diet sounds like Food Combining which is an ages old strategy and one that Suzanne Sommers advocates. WL4I sounds simple and would be a good start. I wonder what their maintenace program is like. I have always avoided Food Combining and high protein diets because, to me, chemical diets that cannot be sustained over the long haul seem to encourage rapid weight gain once you deviate from the regimen.

i purchased Bob Greene's Total Body MakeOver. It advocates working out a lot hard for 12 weeks and overcoming emotional eating. I'm gonna give this a try once if figure out the routine. i think overall this is the best plan but its not easy.. which is ok since none of this is easy..

i give up on any weight loss efforts whenever i plateau.. it just depresses me too much to watch my weight stay the same when i "thnk" i am doing things (eating less and exercising) to effect a weight loss.

i need to find something that works and i want it to be effortless!!!!

That's what the diet industry depends upon - people that think that way!

A marketing study by one well known weight-loss organization found that women expect to lose between 2-3 lbs per week and men expect to lose between 3-5 lbs per week. If that expectation isn't met, the dieters will discontinue the program by the third week.

As we know, the rapid initial weightloss on any traditional "diet" is mainly water. Not surprising when you consider that 60% of your bodyweight anyhow is water! Sure looks good on the scale though. The dieter is deceived that they are losing weight. They are, but it's water and muscle, not fat - the stuff you want to lose. But it's all an illusion, smoke and mirrors.

That's why so many diet programms from Weight Watchers to South Beach to Atkins all have a two week "induction phase" to take advantage of this big water loss scam. That Weightloss4Idiots promises you can lose 9 lbs every 11 days (yeah, right!) and South Beach promises something like 8-11 pounds off in the first two weeks.

It's all part of the $33 billion diet industry gimmick to make big profits and dieters keep falling for the quick weight loss scam. How many diet books do you think they would sell if they told the truth on the cover?

Lose 8 - 12 pounds in two weeks!*

* (but 5 - 7 pounds of that will be plain old water)

It's all trial and error, jojojo. A person has to find what works for them. There isn't a right "diet" for everyone. But the basic principals about creating a calorie deficit, eating a balanced diet, and exercise, all apply in every case. You have to face the fact there is no painless or effortless way to permanently lose weight. I'm just telling it the way it is.

And let me add my 2 cents- if you TRY any diet, it doesn't matter which one, stay dedicated to it for at LEAST 4 weeks. No skimping or cheating. What you get out of a diet is what YOU put into it. If ya need support, you can always send me an email

Bob Greene's Total Body MakeOver? Is this a book or a workout video? Where is it available?

Hello...My roomate and I started the WL4I program last week and have 5 days left in our first cycle. So far I have lost about 5-6 pounds, of which I'm sure most is water right now, but seeing the scale move is MOTIVATING! Out of the 7 days I have been on I have done my cardio (30 mins of walking) 5 of those days. Honestly its a VERY easy diet to follow.. but some of the food requires prep in advance and that can get annoying if you hate to cook as I do. The hardest part for me was going thru the weekend and only being allowed 1 glass of wine per day! Yestarday we had the 6th day special menu which was only 3 meals of fruits and veggies. This is the ONLY day out of 11 like it. It was tough, but I am hoping it will be worth it at the end. To give you some history on myself, a few years ago I was 252 lbs, (I'm only 5'2) and I lost about 90 pounds over the course of 8 month or so with the help of my dr and phentermine. The pills helped, but I counted calories, learned how horrid pizza and fast food are for you and even started weight lifting with a personal trainer. I used to be the kind of girl who would only run if someone was chasing me or if I was on fire and here I was LIFTING FREAKING WEIGHTS... I felt incredible and like I could do anything. My life changed dramatically. When I got to that 80-90 lbs dropped range, I hit a major plateau. I needed to step it up but just couldnt do it. Then due to some really tragic events in my life, I stopped excersing and my eating got a lil out of control and this lasted until just recently, when I noticed my size 12's that I worked so hard to get into WOULDNT FIT. I freaked out. I gained back about 20 of that 90 lbs lost and the WL4I is my first leap back on the wagon. I have been much more diligent about my cardio, and I am determined to loose this last 50 lbs and get to my ORIGINAL goal. I will let you all know how its going and hope to hear from anyone with advice, comments- whatever. So far I would say this diet is worth trying, hey I am broke and if I can afford to blow 27.00 I bet you can too. Just think of all the money in fast food and crap you will be saving. Plus wouldnt you pay 50.00 if you knew it worked?? I would. If you follow it it does work. Now the fun part will be to see how much I can NOT gain back during the mandatory cheat days, but honestly I am just looking forward to being able to enjoy some wine and maybe a burritto for fun. I will certainly let you know how it goes!

Well I have to say that I have been on the WLFI diet since last Monday, 3/7 and I have lost 6 lbs already and I am quite satisfied... I have been actively going to the gym, so that does play an important factor in the whole dieting process.
I did notice that the diet options are ok... not the greatest, but ok. Alot of scrambled eggs and omlets... That does get a little old, but I can deal with it. Basically, it educates you on eating 4 meals a day to help increase up your matabolism to burn the fat. The diet is a fat burner... YEAH!!
I will keep doing it and let you know how it is during the next 11 day cycle...

I hope this helps some of those who are indecisive about the diet...

Carrie
