Question

I started my diet on sunday and all the facts about weightlose seem to be untrue. According to the experts in order to lose 1 pound you must burn 3500 calories. So if i wanted to lose one pound a week i would decrease my calorie intake by 500 calories per day (-500kcal*7days=-3500calories burned). So i went with this fact and decreased my daily calorie intake by 1500 calories a day
(-1500kcal*4days=-6000 calories burned if you divide that total by 3500kcal the total needed to burn 1 pound I should have already lose about 2 pounds. I am 5'3 and weigh 222 i weighed myself today and i am still at my starting point. As of now this had not discouraged me. I wonder what i am doing wrong i have even been going to the gym and spending 30 min in the cardio room. Someone please help me better understand the concept of calorie deficit and weight lose.

Hmm, I'm not very good when it comes to actually counting calories to lose weight, i'll admit. Can you actually tell us what you usually eat, when you eat, what kind of cardio do you do?

Also, you just started! Keep the faith. It takes some people awhile to get teh ball rolling (metabolism that is).
Remember, the key to any successful diet, workout regime is consistency

I usually eat a lean cuisine meal (>300)calories aound 11:00a.m, then at about 3:30p.m i will eat another boxed lean meal or i'll have a tuna sandwhich with wheat bread. I'll take my trimspa with this meal and I will also have a 70calorie apple or a snack under 100 calories. Finally for dinner at about 8:00p.m i will eat another lean boxed meal and if iam under 1000 calories for the day then i might eat another snack or apple. I also take a trimspa with my dinner.
For exercise i usually go to the gym and use the treadmill untill it reads that i have burned 300 calories(about 30 minutes of brisk walking).

It sounds like you are on the right track, and you will lose weight in time. I think when you calculate that you need a deficit of 3500 calories to lose a pound, that is an average over time (several weeks/months), and you can't expect the scale to show it in the time scale of days. Keep hanging in there, and good luck .
