I'm trying desperately to get my eating habits in check and just want to make sure I'm making the right choices, I love pasta and creamy sauces which are obviously out but I don't like tomato based sauces so someone recommended pesto, although when I read the label it seemed very high in fat but low in saturated fat. I'm confused can I have it or not?!!
Pesto is a great way to add flavor to pasta. It is high in fat but the fat is usually from olive oil which is a monunsaturated fat that is heart healthy. I would recommend you use it in small amounts--it is very rich tasing--no more than a 1/2 TBS per one cup serving of pasta. Also, try a variety of different pestos made with different oils, herbs, and nuts (basil, cilantro, walnuts, pine nuts, olive oil, etc..)
i bought a device called a spiral slicer. u can make noodles out of all veggies. i make raw zucchini angel hair pasta...this gives me vitamins and it also cuts down on calories.i will chop up roma tomatoes and onions and celery and all kinds of goodies and put them on my "noodles".so good but not as much calories as pasta.
