Let's see, this rant is going to take me about 15 minutes so it may be a bit long. I'm new here.

Well, I think i've finally figured out why i'm addicted to food. All my life food has been ranked highest on the priority list, even when I was a little baby. I'm 16 years old, 5'10 and I weigh 250 lbs. I am in bad health, risking diabetes if I don't already have it.
It was always about food, to my parents(mom, grandpa, grandama) food was always the most important thing. If you werent full, of the most calarie-filled food available, something was wrong. my grandparents grew up with barely any food. They were poor. So I think that when they grew up and started making money they loved to indulge extra due to missing out in their childhoods. They in turn placed that habit onto their children, and I inturn recieved that habit.

I always eat. I eat when i'm bored, I used to eat when I was sad., (that one is slowly creeping back to me,and is still there), I eat when i'm not full. It was how I was raised. I also eat whatever I want - was raised that way too. It became repetitive. And I didnt gain much healthy food in my arsenal, either. Little to none.

I also grew up from a little baby with 'exsorsize' being put EXTREMELY low on the priority list. This has stuck with me to this day too, but i'm finally beating it and exsosizing regularly.

When I become a parent, I vow to excersize with my baby every day until he's old enough and mentally capable to do it himself. And our house will be full of healthy food.

I'm finally on the serious track of losing weight, and it's coming off. It's been hard.

Hello !!

I just read your note and it brought back memories of my "old self." I am 5'3 and ballooned all the way to 230 pounds (if not even more). Until one day, I decided to change for good and naturally. Now, it's been 3 years since I am keeping the weight off. I lost 80 pounds and my weight is about 150 pounds. If I did it, so can you. Motivation and believing in ourselves is a plus. You can start surrounding yourself with people who will encourage you to pursue a new lifestyle.

Food is not everything.... you are welcome to visit my website and read some of my articles too, all of them are based on my weight loss experience. I eat now every 3 hours and make wise decisions on what I eat, not anymore letting junkfood control myself. I also exercise at least 4 days a week.

If you are really serious about losing weight ... I am here for you to encourage you to do so.

All the best!

Dear boy i don think so that eating is bad habit at all. Its good to eat but its important to burn the extra calories and excess body fat. If you are comfortable with this then eating is the best habit one can have. cheere up buddy. :P

Here is what is happening. You probably grew up eating a lousy diet loaded with fat and sugar so now yopu crave those foods so in a sense you are food addicted. Your brain expects the "buzz" you get from feeling satiated and the high you get from a spike in insulin. There is no simple answer other than some will power and wrok that will be hard for you.

It's simple you gotta start eating crap no matter how much your body rebels. If I ate the crap you ate I'd puke it up.

You have a brain a will and an intellicet it can prevail over some hunger pangs and a little discomfort. It is either that or a horrible life and a horrible death.

The ball is in your court. It is time to stop intelecutalizing and it is time to take action. Eat healthy and excercise. If you don;t know how to do that. LEARN!

Your honesty is refreshing. Most people are not as honest as you are.

This is grat topic! Maybe we should all answer that question!

I like to be fat because all kind of stupid man's are leaving me alone!
Its great. But it hurts in a long run. I know I have to find another type of
protection against idiots accept fat.

What is you reason? Dr. Phil said that we all have a payoff!

There certainly is some sort of pay off but I think it is a bit more complicated than Dr Phil would have us believe.

I beleive that people who eat for emotional reasons probably start out that way due to an emotional trigger. They continue that pattern long after the emotional nedd has passed and now the "addiction" is neuro-behavioral in nature. They still may have not fully dealt with the issues that drove them to overeat but I believe that they overeat years down the road simply out of habit and a type of chemical dependancy. I do not believe this is the reason the majority of people are fat. Most people are fat because they are unwilling to change their lifestyle to one of healthy eating and excercise

The obesity epedemic in and of itself dispels all the quack theories as to why people become overweight. Up until 25 years ago most people were not fat. Now most people are. 25 years ago morbidly obese people were a arae sight but now they are quite common place. The fat lady at the circus is out of work. You see her everywhere now struggling to ambulate or riding in a mobility scooter complete with an oxygen tank and a nose hose.

The cause is multi-factorial but the cure is simple. Eat less and excercise more. The longer people dance around the issue by trying to figure out why they overeat the more difficult it will become for them to change. It doesn't matter why you overeat. What matters is that you stop. Once you do that it will become very clear to you why you over ate in the first place.

Again it is this simple. If you are and adult male you will not be oveweight if you eat no more than 2500 calories a day. If you are an adult female stay under 2000 calories a day and you won't become overweight. Why is that so difficult to do?
