If you are obese, then there is greater danger in NOT dieting.

I hate the word 'diet', but it is what it is. If you are obese or have lots of weight to loose - if you have other factors that make excess weight dangerous (high blood pressure, ect), then there is greater risk in NOT looseing the weight than in loosing it.

Certainly, you must find a way that works for you that is healthy. Don't try to loose 40 pounds in a week like those guys on The Biggest Looser. Loose weight slowly, just like you gained it. 2.5 to 3 pounds a week is a fantastic rate.

To me, the dangers of dieting are things like:

* Starving yourself (unproductive)
* Eating weird diets like the All Cabbage diet or something (malnutrition)
* Stressing out the body excessively in ways that don't really help (wearing a rubber suit to sweat out water weight)
* Having a distorted body image

These are all dangers that lead to things like Liposuction, Gastric Bypass, ect.

Very true.. Here are some other things to look onto:

* Use of diet pills or laxatives
* Fasting or juice cleanses to lose weight
* Overexercising
* Extreme calorie restriction
* Obsessive calorie counting
* Lying about how much you've eaten
* Consistently overeating when you're not hungry
* Eating a lot of no- or low-calorie foods

Yes, true indeed. I was obese at a certain period of time. But with some weight loss pills and yoga i lost approximately 22kg in 5 years. Quite amazing because i LOST weight. Not GAIN weight. One thing is that you must be regular with your yoga.

Obese can cause you a heart problem, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, many stomach problem, stroke, and even heart failure. Its better if you start eating right

well, there are several ways of getting your weight in control, you can try YOGA, eat healthy, and if you further want you can try some weight loss pills also. but in my opinion YOGA is best

Agree with the OP

I fully agree with you, obesity is spread in my family starting from my uncles and father to my cousins and brothers. My father has been suffering from blood pressure problems for a while now and my uncles have been trying their best to lose weight but its not really working for them that well..

Its very dangerous NOT to diet, the health issues you might face could be very harmful.
