The Secret weight loss pill.

Hi Yakooz,

I can help you, but it might not be what you want to hear. There is no secret pill, sorry.

I was in the same boat a couple years ago. I weighed in at 240 and I'm only 5'8". I didn't really do too much at first. My wife had purchased a treadmill years before that just collected dust and sat in the corner of my bedroom.

One day I got on it. I didn't really feel like doing it , but I was sick of looking at my gut and I was too embarassed to go to the track. I walked for a total of 20 mins. Big deal. But the next day I did it again. I made up my mind to do it for 20 mins every day for a week. Not a tall order to fill. After the 1st week I bumped it up to 25 min a day. Then the next week 30 mins a day. Then by a month out I was walking (on an incline) 40 mins a day. It started to show, my clothes got looser and people made comments. I also started doing regular pushups and crunches after my walks(about 100 of each in sets of 20). This sped things up. I began to really care about what I put in my mouth. I still slipped every now and then, you have to live, but I made up for it on the treadmill.

I started this journey in January of 2005, by May I ran the Bloomsday Race in Spokane and had no problem on Doomsday hill. I had dropped 40 lbs and was in pretty good shape.

The hardest part is starting. But You are the one that has to look at yourself in the mirror. I wish you all the best and I know you can reach your goal , if you want to.

Take care

hey man thanks for the advice and story. i started on monday(3/19/07) and i get on the treadmill but i dont like walking on it because well i walk everyday so what's the point, so i run and jog on it for about 15-20 minutes a day. after that i do crunches(100 in sets of 20 like you) and push-ups. but we have some weights lying around with dumbells. so i started doing curl-ups and strength training. it feels great and so far i lost 5 pounds(according to the scale) and i've been watching what i eat and how much i eat. i stay away from soda, chips, and any kind of sweets. i just hope i can reach my goal(lose 30 pounds by mid may) it will be hard to reach it but i have a good feeling about this.
