The Volumetrics Eating Plan

Last week I learned about The Volumetrics Eating Plan on a re-broadcast of Fox Channel's Morning Show with Mike and Juliet. I understand Consumer Report magazine ranked it the number one diet plan in the country, above Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, and Slim Fast. The show hosts had never heard of the diet plan; I sure hadn't yet it has been around for awhile. Consumer Report based their ranking on the amount of research that has been done on this plan. The author, Barbara Rolls, Ph.D. is a professor of nutrition and does food research funded by the National Institutes of Health at the U of Pennsylvania. I ordered the book and have been spending every spare minute reading it. It provides techniques and recipes for feeling full on fewer calories. I'm very excited about trying some of the techniques - like eating low calorie soups and salads before starting my meals because it sounds like the plan will fit in with the self-designed, calorie-based diet I follow. Dr. Rolls says the thing that seems to be missing in most diets is the feeling of fullness and satiety or satisfaction with the meal. I think she is right. Have any of you tried her techniques? What is your experience?
